Renewable Energy at Tiong Seng Building

Tiong Seng Building @ Fan Yoong was accorded the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award in 2021. Committed to being the Premier ESG Organisation in the Built Environment, Tiong Seng is always striving to further reduce our carbon footprint and be more energy efficient.

In line with this, Tiong Seng entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) on 31 March 2022 with Sembcorp to install Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Panels at the rooftop of Fan Yoong Building where we will be deriving a significant portion of our building’s energy consumption from solar energy. Spanning across 306 pieces with a peak capacity of 166.77 kWp, the PV panels generates approximately 222,360 kWh annually – supporting approximately 40% of the building’s energy needs.

This is in line with Singapore Green Plan 2030 to increase solar energy deployment by five-fold to at least 2 GWp, equivalent to the annual electricity needs of approximately 350,000 households. Compared to other means, solar energy is carbon-emission free, contributing to environmental sustainability. Such a move reiterates our commitment and efforts to reduce our carbon footprint by harnessing renewable energy and contributing to the nation’s long term goal of clean sustainable energy.

Installation works of the solar system are currently underway with the expected commissioning in September 2022.
