Environment

Tiong Seng prides itself on being an innovator and champion of practices to shape a safe, high quality and sustainable built environment. We are always mindful of the impact that our business activities have on the environment and continually strives to reduce such repercussions.

From developing a comprehensive Information Management system to reduce paper consumption while streamlining our work processes (which won a BCA Best Practice Award in 2004), to using of more efficient and sustainable construction methods such as our advanced formwork system, PERI formwork, which could be continually re-use thus reducing reliance on usage of traditional timber formwork, our pursuit for excellence in creating a sustainable workplace is relentless.

We have also pioneered the use of mobile recycling system at construction sites in Singapore, recycling the water for other construction use while reducing the silt introduced into the drainage systems. This effort earned us a BCA Best Practice Award in 2006 as well as recognition from PUB as a Friend of Water and achieving the Water Mark Award.

Every little act counts and goes a long way, and it is a goal shared by all our staff. In the course of our progress, our staff has been instrumental in furthering our commitment to the environment, by using recyclable materials and by reducing wastes and noise generated by our activities, winning various awards from authorities.

In our efforts to raise environmental and occupational health and safety standards in all our projects, Tiong Seng is awarded both the BCA ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18000 certification for Building & Civil Engineering Construction Services since 2002.

We are also the proud recipients of the inaugural BCA Built Environment Leadership Award and the BCA Green and Gracious Builder Award in 2009.

Tiong Seng is one of the first construction companies to be conferred the UK’s Royal Society For the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award for excellence in managing health and safety issues since 2007. Tiong Seng was also conferred the UK’s RoSPA special commendation award for RoSPA Sector Award (Construction-Commercial) in 2008 and RoSPA Major Awards for International Sector in 2009.

All these certification and awards bear testimony to Tiong Seng’s commitment to safety and the environment over the years.
